Awakening the Sacred Self

In times of change, economic, climatic, environmental or otherwise we find that we need to be very clear on our own inner resources to maintain a sustainable sense of stability and peace. Without a clear knowing of our personal strengths and challenges we can easily be swept along in the chaotic spin of the moment. However, with knowledge and awareness we may not only learn to conserve our strength and resources but may also find ourselves in situations where we can offer added strength to those around us. The key to all this is coming to personally understand where the truth of our own heart lies. (more…)

Activating a Sacred Heart

I know you know the difference between a healthy heart and an unhealthy heart. I know you are aware the you feel better when you are in a loving relationship than when you’re not and I know you know that you feel empty when your heart isn’t fulfilled with purpose. And although I know you know all these things Stats Canada tells us something very different. Stats Canada tells us that people are suffering every day with neglected hearts!

The latest information from Stats Canada says:

Every 7 minutes in Canada, someone dies from heart disease or stroke.

Heart disease and stroke are two of the three leading causes of death in Canada. (Cancer is number one. A new report says cancer and heart disease were responsible for just over half of Canada’s 238,617 deaths in 2008.)

In 2008 cardiovascular disease accounted for:

  • 29% of all deaths in Canada (69,648 deaths – or more than 69,500)
  • 28% of all male deaths
  • 29.7% of all female deaths

In 2008, of all cardiovascular deaths:

  • 54% were due to ischemic heart disease (ischemia is an inadequate blood supply to an organ or part of the body, esp. the heart muscles).
  • 20% to stroke
  • 23% to heart attack

The leading cause of hospitalization in Canada continues to be heart disease and stroke, accounting for 16.9 % of total hospitalizations (19.8% of all hospitalizations for men and 14.0% for women).

These are sobering and astounding facts. They reflect a pandemic spiritual dis – ease of our most sacred self! It’s time to do something about it for our own good! It is obvious that as a culture we have neglected the importance of maintaining a sacred relationship with our Sacred Heart!

A Sacred Heart

We have been conditioned to think of the heart as a physical pump but more recently we have been made aware that the heart is truly so much more. Every day I get questions about how to heal a broken heart. Everyday I get calls to send distance to someone suffering with a different heart condition. Every day I hear stories from clients who are riddled with fear, doubt and worry. All of these are symptoms of suffering caused from living with a weak heart. A heart in dis-ease. A heart that doesn’t know it is sacred and worthy of our most reverent attention and respect.

The heart is a mighty organ. Your heart beats away steadily and does valiant, noble work every moment of every day to keep your body functioning well while navigating an unpredictable and demanding world. It is truly an amazing organ and much more than a pump that keeps blood circulating throughout your system keeping everything fed and nourished.

Your heart is the seat of the sacred as it rests and flows throughout your life. In the years that I have been doing this work I have seen a steady rise in the sadness that overwhelms the full expression of love. People are virtually starving their hearts to death. As people suffer with loss of self-worth, self-importance and personal esteem so do their hearts suffer. As we struggle with an external world that propagates fear and hyper-vigilance we rely less on our internal intuitions and instincts and more on schedules and demands enforced by others often ignoring our own internal wisdom all together. We become more and more disconnected from our internal knowing of what is sacred to us in life. But that doesn’t mean we have to live with it!

Activating a Sacred Heart

The heart is a vastly resilient organ that needs very little applied effort to restore itself to be in harmony with its divine nature. The main function of the heart, put as simply as I can, is to connect us to everything else. The magnetic power of the heart is 5000 times stronger than the brain. The heart is an electro-magnetic oscillating transmitter and receiver of all the vibrations of life force energy of our universe. By the nature of the heart we are intimately and intricately connected to the working rhythms of our universe. Through our hearts we attract and connect to the life force energy fields of others, relaying emotional information and signals to our brains that will in turn dictate our ability to adjust and survive with ease. Through our hearts we will determine the quality of the life we choose to experience and share with others. When the heart isn’t supported in health on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level it starts to limit its interactions with life around it. Its signals get weaker and it begins to harden up. The heart longs to connect with others and communicate with its universe in a dynamic way. When it isn’t able to do this it suffers, when it suffers – you suffer. Life becomes meaningless, challenging, un-rewarding, and isolated. The heart will not survive in an environment like that.

Consider the heart to be a liquid crystal that has the powerful ability to amplify and attract all that you desire for yourself and for your world. When the heart is turned on and awakened it has the power to shift mountains. The heart produces a hormone called oxytocin – a love hormone that like dopamine makes us very happy. When we are happy we generate a positive energy that pulses out in an electromagnetic pattern that influences all life around us and creates health. When we connect with others in this state we can experience a profound state of compassion and bliss that radiates out into the communities we live in. We owe it to ourselves and one another to create this dynamic energy.

Infinitely, Simply, Abundant

You are infinitely, simply, abundant. I bet you forgot.

You are 50 trillion cells regenerating life force energy every second of every day (Dr. Bruce Lipton),  a flowing, glowing body of bio-electric magnetic energy that actually emits light! Amazing! Furthermore, you are a holographic part of a flowing, breathing, pulsating Universe that creates life in every moment. AND…You are a co-creative force of energy, observing, designing and creating life by the nanosecond! Magnificent! I’m not making this up…it’s fact!

So why do you feel a lack of abundance? Not only are you a part of all abundance that exists, you are also the designer and creator of that same abundance. You do it naturally, easily, quickly and infinitely. So what’s your problem?

Straw into Gold!

You can never create something out of nothing. Energy can’t be created or destroyed – in physics this is known as the Law of Conservation. All the energy that is will always be; there will be nothing more or less,  and since everything is simply energy in various states of vibration we can assess what we have. Energy does however change states! This is the Law of Thermodynamics. By applying heat and pressure we can change the state of energy until it actually changes form – this does not only apply to water and ice! This applies to every single notion you dream up! If you want to engage in the law of change as a conscious player you need to learn to become the Alchemist and learn how to spin straw into gold.

Negative energy will and can be transformed into positive energy, thought into form, loss into gain and lack into abundance. These are changes of state! States of mind, states of reality, and states of being. It all begins with a change in perspective. Our perspective/outlook is how we project our vibration. We do it through our hearts, our minds and our eyes. When we look at our world with optimism and happiness we look out from a place of alignment with an internal light source that is available to each of us. By projecting that light forward we get to see things others can’t see because they’re still trying to look through the dark. It becomes imperative to shed our light as we look out and begin to navigate the world. When we look out with a pessimistic perspective it’s like stumbling around in the dark, we trip over obstacles, we become immobilized in fear; afraid to make a wrong move in case we fall into an unseen abyss. When we think, observe and participate in life with a positive frame of reference we initiate a vibration that ripples out and begins to attract to it all things that vibrate at a similar frequency. Like attracts like – this is the Law of Attraction! Unlike the laws of our legal system – these laws can not be broken. They always work and we always work with them. The only choice we have is work with them to our advantage or to our disadvantage!

Choose to Cast a Light in the Darkness!

Everything in our dualistic world has an equal and opposite force of energy – another law of physics that govern our reality. This means that within every perceived darkness is light, within every illness is health, and within every despair is hope. To change any manifestation into something else we have to hold the awareness and presence of the opposite force of energy. I meet many people who tell me they are positively minded and yet perplexed why they manifest negative things. Eventually I find that they are using their positive energy to positively believe in their inability to manifest change. Without being able to see the opposite of what we are getting in life we will never be able to manifest it. Reality is that both polar opposites co-exist in every moment in every manifestation. Free-will allows us to determine the direction of our attention – where attention goes energy flows. Every creation is a manifestation of energy. Shifting the energy changes the creation.

Opportunities don’t fall from the sky… they are created by freeing up a quantity of energy that is currently being used in an opposite direction. Admittedly we don’t always understand how that energy got freed up but we also don’t know what is happening when we shift our attention. The Butterfly effect illustrates how everything in our universe is constantly changing and everything is connected. Energy may be latent, dormant, dense or heavy but it is still present. The very same energy can be transformed by directing positive energy and light at it. When we introduce a vibration of light, joy and ease at any condition we allow the opposite force to be released in the direction of our intention. For example – light focused on dark creates light, joy focused on sadness creates joy, and ease focused toward dis-ease creates ease. Or consider it this way… A match in a dark room lightens it…a smile is infectious…and relaxation releases tension. In each of these understandings we see how energy applied with intention releases available energy within the old system and creates a different outcome.

Lighten UP!

Struggle, conflict, arguments, worry and pain require vast amounts of energy to maintain them; energy that thereafter won’t be available for anything else. The more energy we invest in a struggle the harder it becomes to get out of it! Love is the highest vibrating emotion we can experience. It works like a tonic to relieve all that ails you. So love your challenges, forgive your enemies, and in all ways stop feeding the source of your problems with your negative expectations and vibrations. Remember like attracts like and it is your choice to set out a vibration of harmony or dissension, emptiness or fulfillment, lack or abundance. What you send out gathers momentum and attracts more energy of its own kind and returns to you in greater force.

What do you have? What is the opposite of that? What do you want? Identify your desire and take your attention off of  the current manifestation and direct it toward your desire. Look for the light, see it lighting up your opportunities, see how infinitely, simply abundant you truly are! Choose to work the laws of our universe to your benefit starting now! : )

Let Love Raise You Up!

In my new age world of spiritual healing it is very common to hear people talking about unconditional love and peace. It’s all part of the lingo. And even though I know that in their heart of hearts they truly mean to feel and hold unconditional love, saying so doesn’t make it so. So often I see and hear people today slipping into quiet, soft-spoken, treacle coated places assuming the countenance of smiling Buddhas. It’s as if people assume that to be seen as spiritual you have to appear to be made of sugar. Unfortunately, all too often, I see the sugar melt in the pouring out of tears that belong to fear, worry, anger, injustice and pain.

Fact is, that while most people can appreciate the ideal of unconditional love, they will easily fall for very human dynamics when it comes to living day-to-day life. Our common, very human, lesson in life is to learn how to let love raise you up! Up out of the low vibrations of fear, worry and anger. Our common, very human lesson is to learn to surrender to the flow and not to get caught in the overwhelming darkness of fear. In a dualistic expression it is our journey to discover ourselves and our potential through faith in what we can’t see. The question is: can we remember to let the pure vibration of unconditional love boost our lagging, depressed energy fields In our darkest hour?

Pray for Love

When we fear we pray. This is the way of humans. It’s our safety net. It’s a good thing. We are allowed to petition the God-consciousness to help us. Too often, however, people pray to have their problems resolved from a place of fear. Instead, try praying to raise your energy up out of fear. Pray instead to be filled with love. Pray to be re-aligned with your divine purpose and power. Pray to have your heart healed and your eyes set back on the course of faith and one love. Forgive yourself for being weak, fragile and afraid. And be willing to be restored in your greatness.

Dear God Consciousness of One, I am filled today with fear and worry. I pray for your support and love to flood my being. Hold me up now when I cannot hold myself. I am humble and grateful for your support. I am open and willing to receive the flow of love through my being. I am willing to release myself from my fears and worries. Allow me to experience your abundant flow of peace and love, clarity and wisdom, kindness and generosity. Remind me of my strength and purpose that I may serve my fellow beings to the best of my ability. Let me be a clear and precise mirror of the love that exists through and around all consciousness. Dear God renew me in my love and potential. I am one with all that is. So Be It.

We quickly say that love is all there is. We easily believe that God is love. We believe that God’s love is unconditional. If we want to believe that God’s love  – the driving force of our universe is All, then let’s try to understand the true relevant power of that. There exists a powerful benevolent force in our universe that is a truth unto itself. It seems to have no condition, no preference, no bias. It appears randomly and abundantly when needed. It seems to flow through our hearts. It creates healing, health and well-being and ultimately peace and Oneness. We call it unconditional love. Let Love raise you up!

Transcending Fear ~ Dancing Your Heart’s Song

We are sitting today at the threshold of unprecedented growth. Everything in the world as we know it to be is up to be transformed and transcended. Collectively we have entered the chrysalis stage of human development. At this point anything is possible. As we surrender our selves to this stage of transformation we must release the fear of no longer being as we formerly knew our selves to be. All of our ego identifications and ideals that belonged to our caterpillar selves must be surrendered to the new greater whole…and this feels risky.

Negotiating the Risk Factor

In actuality though, the risk is minimal. There is no real risk in evolution. In evolution things simply, almost imperceptibly, move to the next step. We either try to delay the process of evolution by focusing on what was and continue to uphold those old ideas or we learn to release our ego attachments and set our sights forward to the unknown potential of what is to come. It becomes a matter of looking forward or looking backwards, or more precisely, of looking outwards compared to looking deeply inwards. We tend to equate unknown with dangerous but this is only a projection of fear.

A very useful acronym for F.E.A.R is False. Experience. Appearing. Real. The experience is deemed false simply and truthfully because it hasn’t happened yet, so we actually project an outcome forward based on a negative past experience, which we assume makes it real because it happened a certain way in the past. Unfortunately, the error in the equation is that it doesn’t take into consideration all the awareness, skill and knowledge that has been learned between the old experience and the current time. All of these unacknowledged experiences have the power to create a completely new outcome. By laying the old expectation over the new possibility we create a future that mimics the patterns of the past – thereby ‘proving’ our fear to be valid. When we learn to view the future as a new adventure we get to co-create an entirely new possibility for ourselves.

A new mantra to use in place of the old acronym is Forgive. Everything. As. Required. Using this mantra whenever we feel the old emotional F.E.A.R. grab hold of our bodies and minds will serve to ‘re-mind’ us to leave the past in the past, forgive unconditionally what ever it is in us that wants to hold on to the past, and prompt us to let go without attachment for our highest good. Through forgiveness we may gratefully acknowledge the small part of us that is unsure, and yet in the same breath we can energize the visionary part of us that wants to move boldly forward toward the unknown.

Taking a Leap of Faith

In co-creation we solicit the assistance of the Divine Creative, the one with the plan. And I don’t mean the one being – I mean the one consciousness of which we are all part. In One consciousness we move into our perfect placement in the holistic holographic blueprint for humanity’s ever evolving nature. In Oneness, I simply do my part while everyone does his/her part. Ego and self-righteousness disappears in the perfection of the whole dynamic. While this is certainly happening already to a degree, the overall plan is currently reflecting distortions caused by individual attachments, control issues and fears. Through surrender to our mutual perfection we allow minute variations to occur which more accurately tune us into the right place, right time scenarios. The trick lies in being able to recognize the pivotal synergistic opportunities without projecting egotistical needs over top. To establish this clarity of intuition vs ego we need to make friends with our hearts. Love offers us the opposite vibration to fear.

The heart pulses out a frequency that is connected to and resonates with the sacred pulse of the universe and our earth. The Base Resonant frequency of Earth is our touchstone of reality that serves to keep us entrained in the harmonious working of all things great and small within our Universe. By releasing our minds from fear we are able to ‘keep up to speed’ with the quickening vibrational frequency of the Sacred Circuit of Universe>Earth>Heart>Cells. As our bodies are creating new cells by the second we allow our cellular construction to be built-in harmony with all that is; in new progressive programming instead of the old worn out tired and dis-eased programming of the past.

Stirrings of Light and Love

So here we sit, looking forward to a new day, or fearing the collapse of the old day. Truly this is a very apt comparison. We sit in the in between time between dark and light, we are in the dusk/dawn time of a new era. One era day is ending while a new one is simultaneously beginning. Trying to hold on to yesterday won’t help us and in fact puts us in a very surreal place of non-relevance. By keeping our attention on a day that has passed we cease being able to put our energies where they can be of assistance to the transition ahead. We lock ourselves into repetitive patterns, gradually becoming less and less effective; more and more jammed up, less and less able to hold the light of the new frequencies of the new era being birthed.

We are by nature visionary, and if you have been paying attention to your heart – even in the slightest, you’ll have noticed that in recent months you have been feeling somewhat dissatisfied (if not greatly frustrated) to be doing the same old same old. You are yearning for a new expression. Deep inside you are feeling the push/pull of something truly great wanting to come forward from within. A sacred resonance is being activated and you are at this point in the transformation only half-heartedly listening to your truth calling you forward. Your body, however, is desperately wanting to heed the insistent whisperings.

By attuning all of your attention to your heart you will begin to hear the transmissions of universal energy clearer and clearer. You will begin to move your body to dance with the rhythms of the universe. You will automatically be able to step into the right place and right timing to fill the position that is perfect. It may feel like a leap of faith when in truth it is only a step in the dance; the dance of your own creation for the highest good of all.

Freeing the Soul into your Life

I am a high-achiever and I am ambitious. It’s my nature. When I was younger I was strongly motivated by praise and approval from others, today I strive for excellence regardless of the praise or approval I receive from others. Over time I began to see that my path differed uniquely from the path of others and began to understand that my happiness depended on me owning my own authority. I began to learn to listen to my own soul to guide me towards my right path.

In the beginning listening to my soul was tricky because I didn’t know how to do it – we weren’t in a good relationship. I had never considered that my soul would have a different story than my ego self did. My mind, my emotions and my soul coexisted within this physical body of mine but no-body was communicating with the other bodies. Until I discovered the presence of each body with in my whole expression the channels of communication went something like this: my mind working in cahoots with my ego self would make executive decisions on behalf of the whole, the emotions would react accordingly and the physical body would act out with strength or with pain as it could to support the whole body consensus. As you can imagine, and probably identify with, there was considerable unrest in the house at all times. Pain in my body made me stop ‘doing’ and start ‘being’. In the physical stillness that followed my thoughts initially became manic, unconscious thought began to rise through the fog to be heard, conscious thoughts vied for attention, the ego stubbornly struggled to stay engaged and in control,  emotions stirred and made themselves felt, some for the first time. Underneath it all the quiet voice of the soul could be heard whispering direction and advice. Mental, emotional, spiritual turmoil ensued. Life seemed out of control and very challenging without the normal strategy of ‘doing’ something to shut everything up. Intrigued (and frightened) by the madness  flowing through my life I vowed to keep listening and determined not to fall back into my old coping mechanisms. I knew I couldn’t go back but I also didn’t know how to move forward. If you don’t know what to do  – do nothing…so I became very, very still and I learned to observe, listen and learn.

Emotions need only to be acknowledged honestly for them to be satisfied, but the mind needs to be heard. Excuses, contradictions, logical arguments, insane belief systems, all guide and camouflage the truth of spirit trying to express itself. Patiently, like trying to coax a shy kitten out of a hiding place you have to convince the soul that you mean no harm, that you will listen, that you are finally willing to act in its best interest. Slowly the relationship with my soul started to mend. I came to know myself in new ways; my triggers, my fears, my true pleasures, my motivations and my capacity to live a soulful, heart centered life. My intuitions grew stronger and more dependable, my knee jerk instinct to react lessened, I could breathe and wait, I didn’t take everything personally, my ego began to disengage from every exchange allowing my spirit the room to emerge. I began to feel peace. I began to feel creative as never before.

I have often wondered how my life would be if I could have brought this knowledge of life into my life in architecture and construction. Or into my life as the organic herb farmer. But it is what it is. All in good time. All exactly as it played out was important for the revealing of my soul in my life. I like the idea that we are Spiritual beings living a physical experience – but we also need to strive to empower our spiritual self otherwise we will find ourselves living soul-less materialistic physical lives burdened with the struggle and pain of trying to maintain an impermanent reality.

So how can you recognize when your soul is freely engaging in the process of your life? You feel purposeful, engaged, patient and satisfied. You realize you risk nothing by being fully present. You feel anywhere from a vague to a strong sense of connectedness, a remembering of a promise. You feel really big, unlimited, and optimistic. Limitations are part of a language you no longer speak. You are not overwhelmed by the physicality of your life. You feel nourished, nurtured and loved.

And with this awareness coursing through your life you feel the impulse to nourish, nurture and love others.

In A Perfect World

Part of my job is helping people get to what they want in life. The other part of my job is helping people understand what they want to get. This is by far the most challenging piece. Amazingly, people usually don’t know what they want. And even more amazing is that they don’t know they don’t know!

So just to get the ball rolling, I like to pose the questions, “What does your perfect world look like? Who’s in it? What do you do? How do you live? Where do you live? What do you look like” Usually I get answers that paint a very different picture from the life being lived. Sometimes I get I don’t knows, but very rarely do I get the true answer, which is of course – “close to what I got”.

In a perfect world we are not enslaved to live the life we’ve got, we are free to make choices at will that guarantee our happiness every day. In a perfect world we have no worries, no anger, no fear. We are perfectly matched to the love of our life, and have purpose. The stuff of fairy tales and romance novels.

So here’s the rub…our world is perfect. Your world is perfect.

It is the perfect alignment of cause and effect. Like attracts like. What you have in your life is the result of the seeds you have planted and nurtured to thrive. How can it be any more perfect than that?

Your life today is the life you believe in. It’s the life you believe you deserve, it’s the life that makes sense of your choices. Your life today reflects all of the faith you hold in your self, your loved ones, your god, and your past. What ever the struggle, the torment, the pain you suffer you believe in it.

We live in a world of free choice. But instead of making our choices that support our happiness and happily ever after dreams  we do any number of things that screw us up and set us on ‘the wrong’ path. We lie, we cheat, we get hooked on various addictions, we compromise our decision-making by doing what other people want us to do when we don’t want to – from sex, to careers, to marriage, to schedules, to having kids, we give our power away. When you give your power to choose the quality of life away you immediately become aware of feeling that you no longer live in a perfect world. When you believe that someone else’s dream is more important or better than your own you start living in someone else’s version of life and dream.

Come to understand that even when you make a decision to follow someone else – it’s still your choice. Once you get that part, commit to it! Don’t wish otherwise! Accept where you stand! If you don’t like it – change it! Come to independently know your own mind. The world can’t be anymore perfect – you co-created it. You are living your choices. If you understand that and still think you feel trapped and can’t make changes to change your situation then accept it. Don’t torment yourself and others with self-pity. Self pity has a soul shattering dynamic all its’ own that works to serve victimization belief systems. Once you believe you are victimized you are doomed to follow along. Then the serious whining begins!

Instead congratulate yourself on being the master creator of your world – with the power to make choices, look for options, do what you can, understand the compromises you intentionally make and let yourself off the hook. Just stop complaining about it. Work hard at loving your life, at creating a life you love, finding the things you love about your life, and doing the things you love. Anywhere you spend energy in your life (which is everywhere) make it loving energy! Loving thoughts that support your choices will in turn create other options that create more love. Anger, fear, bitterness and resentment may still crop up but just to show you what is still out of alignment. In the loving of your life you will soon be living in a perfect world, all your own with everything you love in it.

In the End It’s Still My Choice…All Things Considered

People have choice. It’s our birthright. We come to life and have the responsibility to make the choices in life that suit us. And that’s a blessing. I’m really glad that I get to make my own choices but I’m  also constantly surprised by how hard it is to make my own choices. In every choice I make I consider tons of people, issues and possibilities. And this is also our responsibility, to be actively conscious of the repercussions of our personal choices. As much as we are free agents we are still ultimately responsible to our partners, families, friends, community and consciousness on the whole. Heavy baggage!

It’s no wonder that we’ll grab opportunities to let someone else make our choices for us. Sometimes we just want a break. Letting someone else decide for us let’s us off the hook temporarily and it’s nice to feel looked after – like I said…temporarily. The way someone else makes choices, how they consider things, how they weigh the value of factors either appeals to us or doesn’t. It determines the success of our partnerships in business and marriage, it determines how well we play with others, it determines how well we raise our children.

Making decisions is a powerful responsibility. Invariably what we decide will also determine the fate of others. It can’t be helped. The quality of our life is determined by the quality of the decisions we make.  It becomes very important to know what you stand for. What are your morals, ethics and values about life? What do you condone, tolerate, and hold in esteem? If you can come to understand what is truly important to you and what is not, you will create a guideline for your life. When you have that it is much easier to know how to make your decisions.

Come to know where your weaknesses lie, where you need help in making decisions, where you need to trust others almost completely. Not choosing to decide is still a decision – probably one of the most important stands you’ll ever make. When we give all our power over to someone else to decide in our stead, we better be able to trust them implicitly. They hold our life in their hands and they better be strong enough to carry us. When we give that power to someone weaker than us we will surely fall. I’ve seen people choose to do exactly that just so they can ferociously lay blame and fault, not realizing that it was their own fault for giving up their right to choose.

In marriage we have to decide our decision-making roles. Do you like to be led, do you like to lead, do you need to need a partner with whom to hammer out solutions with? Or more likely it’s a mix of the three. Do you know over which issues you like to assume which hat? Do you realize what your emotional triggers are that ultimately drive the choices you make. I’ll give you a hint; fear and love are the driving forces behind all decisions. Making good choices depends directly on how willing and ready we are to look and accept the truth of a situation. If we are continuously making bad decisions with miserable outcomes we have to look at what our personal motivation is. Another hint: behind every bad decision lies a mountain of fear. It’s fascinating how blind to the mountain we can become.

The thing with making decisions is while we are dealing with very personal, close to the heart kind of decisions we also have to keep our eyes fixed on the greater good. There are usually people watching, waiting, knowing they are going to be influenced by your decision, usually our children, partners and co-workers, and they are learning. They are not just idly sitting by twiddling their thumbs. Based on how you make your choices they will learn how to make theirs. Where you are weak, they will be strong, where you are wobbly, they will learn to manipulate, where you waffle they will decide. Even in weakness you have responsibility, you just won’t have the power to look after your highest good!

We exert our power in our life through the decisions or lack of decisions we make. It’s your choice!

The Music of the Spheres

One of the things that really turn me on in life is music. Not just the listening to it part, but the whole idea of it. It’s a fantastic concept to me that there are people out there who can take their thoughts, their emotions, their experiences and translate them into songs that allow others to resonate with them. Amazing.

And I don’t care what the genre is or the time period it comes from either, it’s all incredible. There is absolutely no way for me to sit still if there is a song in the air. Everyone in my family; parents, siblings, and all the children love music. We all dance, we all sing (some of us brilliantly, some of us badly, but all loudly!) and we all listen to it whenever we can. It is the backdrop to every gathering. But that’s the thing with music. It amplifies the backdrop rhythm of the energy of life back to us so that even the densest of us can get connected.

Music surrounds us, permeates us and aligns us with all that is harmonious in the universe.  When I first heard the phrase “the music of the spheres” I was instantly transported out of my mind into the workings of the universe. I can’t adequately describe the awareness that moved through me. I could ‘hear’ the sound of the planets turning in space, like a ginormous turbine, slowly pulsing the vibrations of life throughout the universe(s), and then I became aware of  ‘feeling’ the end result of those pulsations with the breezes blowing through the trees and in the rhythm of my own heart. I felt my heart open and receive the vibe flooding my soul with joy and awe!

In the moment that I heard that phrase I became instantly aware of my interconnectedness with all of life in our universe, I knew that I was integral to the cause and effect system that governs our dualistic expression of life on earth, just as our sun is. Nothing is too small, or too insignificant to cause effect. Every living species, every thought, every emotion, every giggle and every tear creates a ripple of vibration that wiggles its’ way out into the universe, attracts to similar vibrations,  is caught up in the mass vibration and eventually results in the turning of the planets which in turn cause the vibrations, re-energized and re-calibrated with more potential to slowly find their way back to earth, consciousness and who knows where else.

With music we are entrained to a vast pulsation that connects us to all life and all symbiotic expressions. The power of concert is to simultaneously connect us to like-minded hearts and souls. When we listen to a radio station and sing or tap along with a song we simultaneously energetically connect to all the other vibrations of the voices singing and tapping along with the same song in that same moment. And I can get even bigger than that! Vibrations move for an infinite amount of time, as we sing and play our favorite music we connect to all the times those pieces have been played, revitalizing those rhythms continuously.

The most popular songs through the ages are the ones that make us feel love, hope, joy, passion, wonder and gratitude for they are the songs that celebrate the triumphs of man, the successes, the accomplishments and the history of man’s journey. The anthems, the hymns, the love songs;  literally they are what makes the world go round! They stimulate the compassionate nature of our hearts and create a resonance of energy that causes life to continue and expand. Through song we are unified throughout time with all generations. Through music we learn to identify and conquer all that is dissonant and disharmonious to the continuation of life.

So keep on singing folks – life depends on it!

Enter the Fool

I have a lot of friends who are fools – I mean down to the bone foolish. I love them. There is never a dull moment when the fool comes on the scene! Over the years I have come to cherish the fools and try to emulate them as often as possible. I have learned to not let appearing foolish stop me.

In the tarot the fool card signifies the innocence of mind that allows infinite trust in the universe and one’s God. Through the very energy of trusting we come to engage in life adventures that otherwise wouldn’t have been available. The fool teaches us to risk our normal conservative safe ideas for those a little more daring. He shows us how to traipse merrily towards the edge of reality instead of well back from the edge where most of our mothers would prefer we stay. He shows us how to release our critical judgments in favor of a taste of adventure.

It is the fools that guide us into tomorrow; they are the pioneers, the scientists, the inventors, the visionaries, the poets, the musicians and the artists. They are the dreamers with their faces pointed towards the heavens and their feet lightly dancing on the edge of all known reality. They see things differently and act accordingly.

It is only on the edge that a new reality can be created; it is where our vision and perspective is the clearest. Most people are too afraid to wander to the edge where a wrong step could prove disastrous. But the fool shows us that to dance along the edge of all that is safe, risking all that is dangerous, is where we find our truest essence. Here we will find our greatest capacity to love, to laugh, to trust, to feel compassion and to expand. It is at this edge where we come to understand our magnificent ability to connect with faith to the divine matrix of life. In this foolish place we learn that the landing area for the next step will be provided; is already there, in fact, even though we may not be able to see it.

So often I see people immobilized in fear, afraid to trust another in love and in business; so afraid that opportunities slide by. Too afraid to move out of their mundane lives, they choose instead to sit safely in their controlled predictable lives. When we only engage with what we can control we will continuously recreate the patterns of the past. While the past provides us with great memories and teachings it doesn’t offer us the opportunity to grow. Only stepping out bravely towards a new unknown will breathe new life into a wilting soul. The fool is not, however, about being reckless. It is about learning how to be in complete harmony with ones’ environment and being thus able to take advantage of opportunities as they present without fear of endangering ones self. The fool only appears to be reckless and careless by those who are over-cautious.

It is the inherent nature of the soul to seek expansion through experience. When we limit the possibilities for new experience we cause the soul to wither and fade. The soul is a luminous expression of vitality that yearns for new adventures, regardless of possible pain. Our soul knows that it came to life to live a plethora of experiences not just the safe and easy ones.

As we move through our days we will without doubt encounter a host of fears that threaten to limit our experiences. I challenge you to take stock of what stops you. How often in your day do you take the comfortable route, do the same old same old, and deny a new invitation preferring to sit back on the sidelines laughing at the fools having fun at the edge. Aspire to be the fool, little by little, inch your way towards the edge. Dare to peek at the life you could be having. If this makes no sense to you, make friends with a fool today, see the world through his eyes and see how light the world becomes!
